Is Your Team Looking for a Challenge? Participate in National Cups!! 

All SOASA-sanctioned teams are eligible to participate in the United States Amateur Soccer Association's (USASA) National Cups. There are divisions for Men's Amateur, Men's U23, Men’s O-30,Women's Cup, Women's U23 and U20 Men's and Women's Teams*. You will begin with state competition playing against the other teams in Southern Ohio with the potential to advance to regional competition at the Midwest (Region II) Regional Cup Finals in Chicago, IL, June 18-20. 

The process culminates in the National Cups Finals to be held in different locations: 

Amateur (Philadelphia July 30-Aug 1),

 U23(Lawrence KS, July 23-25), and 

U20 (Manalapan Park, NJ, July 17-18).

Men's Soccer: #20 Lewis 1, #2 Drury 0

Springfield, Mo. - Lewis University head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles knew it would take a perfect game for his Flyers to beat top-seeded Drury for the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 title.

By all accounts, Fiffles received that and more as Lewis, behind a second-half goal from junior midfielder Mardoche Beya (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), claimed the 1-0 win over the host Panthers at Harrison Stadium on Sunday (Nov. 15) to advance to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

Beya has proved to be a welcome addition to the Flyer lineup after missing the first nine games of the season due to injury. Since his return, he has scored two goals, helping the Flyers win their last seven matches.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dan Dwyer Named ASC Second Team All-Conference

 

A freshmen earned ASC Second Team All-Conference in Dan Dwyer. Dwyer, a midfielder from Cincinnati, Ohio, was tied-for-second in goals (2) and points (5). He has scored the only penalty kick for HBU.

Dayton Senior Has Dominated In Last Three Games



Jeff Popella earned A-10 and national honors this week

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton senior Jeff Popella was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, and was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 8.

The forward scored four goals in two games to propel Dayton to its first Atlantic 10 Regular Season title since 2000. Popella, who missed the majority of the season with an injury, has come on strong in conference play. In Atlantic 10-only games he is tied for first for game-winning goals; he's scored the game-winner in Dayton's last three games. He is also tied for third in goals scored in conference games(5).

He notched both game-winners, in the Flyers' victories over Xavier (4-0) on Nov. 6 and St. Bonaventure (2-1 OT) on Nov. 8, helping Dayton clinch the regular season title and top seed in the Championship. He scored both goals against the Bonnies with the golden goal coming in the 92nd minute.

Dayton earned a first round bye and will play in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship this Friday, Nov. 13 in Kingston, R.I.
